Most of you
remember the
Y.O.U. days of
old. A time
filled with
basketball
tournaments,
volleyball
tournaments,
dances, and
youth trips to
new and exciting
destination.
These activities
gave us a chance
to become closer
to our church
friends and
unite our
spirits. They
gave us a
feeling of
connectedness to
something bigger
than ourselves,
a feeling that
we belonged.
Then it
happened
In 1995 the
church underwent
a major
restructuring
(as I like to
put it), and we
watched as many
of our friends
went their own
direction, as
did we. The
result was that
same feeling of
connectedness
was
disconnecting.
The years
thereafter left
many of us a
little "shell
shocked". We
went on living
our lives
entering a new
chapter of "the
church". The
experience
became a
defining moment,
a bookmark in
time, for many
young adults to
delineate and
prove their
beliefs for
themselves.

As the dust
began to clear,
the feeling of
disconnectedness
resumed, and
became a little
more pressing in
our minds. Where
did our friends
go? Where are
they now? There
was a feeling of
something
missing,
something left
out.

| "There was a feeling of something missing, something left out." |

It was in 1998
that my brother
and I decided to
try an
experiment. It
was now the
middle of the
"dot com" boom,
as we thought to
ourselves,
"Could the
internet be the
answer?" We had
no idea what
would come of
our efforts. It
would be a
learning
experience if
nothing else,
and perhaps in
our efforts we
could at least
reconnect with a
few others of
like mind.
yacog.org was
born
The site grew
slowly after
it's first
release. We
received a lot
of feedback and
assistance from
you and did our
best to
incorporate new
ideas from
everyone. It was
after all a site
for all the
"Young Adults of
the church of
God". It evolved
over time, and
is now in its
fifth version
of its online
presence. We
started with
just a few bio's
online, and now
have several thousand
people
connecting.
We thank God for
the blessings
and success.
Only through God
has it been able
to continue to
grow. We would
like to thank
everyone who
helped out along
the way and
would very much
appreciate your
help in the
future. The young adults are
the future of
the church, and
have a great
opportunity to
be examples to
each other and
the world.
Let’s continue
to move forward
and unite as a
new generation!
“Be
imitators of God
therefore, as
dearly loved
children and
live a life of
love…”
